Aphrodisias: The City Of Aphrodite, The Goddess Of Beauty

Located in the Karacasu district of Aydın province, It is 230km South East from Izmir where you can find good amount property for sale in Turkey, It is a 3-hour drive from Pamukkale as well.

Aphrodisias progressed in the Roman period, although it backs to 7,000 years. It is the most famous city dedicated to Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty. 
Aphrodisias was famous for its school of sculpture. The wealth and cultural and political importance of the city is clear in the magnificence of the buildings.


It’s all about love! And at the ancient temple dedicated to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, you can feel it all around you. The love of art and history inspired Turkish archaeologist Kenan Erim to dedicate his life to uncovering the story of Aphrodisias. Then It became his second home for 30 years and, now buried there. Thanks to  his passion for work, we are now able to experience one of the greatest antient sites in Turkey.

In 2017 the city of Aphrodisias has entered into the List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.


The Museum of Aphrodisias is one of the most amazing museums of western Anatolia. The valuable monuments which have been found at the excavations are displayed here.

Odeon  Palace 
Mainly used as a concert hall and lecture room, it was constructed in the 2nd century A.D. The orchestra and stage building of the Odeon were adorned with mosaics and the auditorium was covered with a wooden roof. 

The agora was planned in the 1st. century B.C. for use as a market and popular gathering place. It is composed of two Ionic porticoes over 200 m long and running from east to west. 

Baths of Hadrian
The baths constructed in the 2nd century during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. This complex consists of a large central hall, probably the hot room, surrounded. by four large rooms(warm room, sweating room, dressing room, and cold room)
It is the most luxurious building with all the requisite facilities, such as labyrinthine underground service corridors, water channels, and furnaces.

The Theatre
The theater Construction was completed in 27 B.C. but in the 2nd century A.D. certain structural changes were made to make the theatre fit for the gladiator combats.

The Sebastion
Sebastion is a remarkable discovery. It is a temple dedicated to the cult of Emperor Augustus and its surrounding complex. 

Stadium in Aphrodisias
The Aphrodisias stadium is located in the northern section of the city it is 262 mt. in length and 59 mt. wide with a seating capacity of 30,000 pax. The stadium was specially designed for athletic competitions and festivals.
