The Kartal district is located on the Asian side south-eastern part of Istanbul with a total land area of 38.54 km2. Having a long coastline along the Sea of Marmara, Kartal is a popular destination for people to enjoy this characteristic. The population of the district is around 500,000 people. Kartal was inhabited by Turks during the Era of Seljukian Empire and Ottomans captured Kartal 300 years later than Seljukians in 1400.

the development of Kartal speeded up after the first ferry port built in 1857, then later the first railway; Haydarpaşa-Pendik line, built in 1873. New neighborhoods were founded to change the socio-cultural structure of the area. Currently, Kartal area has easy access to all the main transportation facilities and home to many schools, universities, hospitals, and shopping malls.

Now, Kartal is a quiet and calm area where families with children prefer to live in. Being a secure district, Kartal responds almost all the needs of inhabitants.

Kartal is one of the biggest districts of the Anatolian side of Istanbul, and very close to the Financial Center Currently being built on the Asian side, is fast moving towards becoming the most important business center and culture-art center.
