Summer Festivals to Attend in Turkey

The summer season is now in full swing and it’s time to enjoy some good music under the stars in Turkey. Whether you reside here or just came for a short stay there are a variety of options in terms of the length of the events and kinds of music offered.

Chill Out Festival

A lounge and electronic music held by Lounge FM, it is one of the most popular summer events in Turkey. As dozens of musicians, producers and DJ’s perform throughout the day you can also attend yoga sessions and workshops which the festival is well known for. Although the Istanbul leg of the festival is over you can still attend the second part held in the renowned summer holiday destination Bodrum where it will be held from July 19 to 20 at Yalıkavak, Xuma Village. 


Big Burn Festival

One of the best electronic festivals in Istanbul, the Big Burn Festival will be held from July 26 to 28 at the hip Suma Beach. DJ’s and producers from all over the world come to perform in the grand beach party atmosphere of the event so buy your tickets early as they are very high demand.


Istanbul Electronica Festival

The first and pioneering electronic music festival of Turkey, Istanbul Electronica Festival will take place in both Istanbul and the renowned summer holiday town of Çeşme. The Istanbul leg will be held in Life Park, Sarıyer on July 13-14 after that the event will move to Fun Beach, Çeşme from August 12 to 13.


Zeytinli Rock Festival

This festival offers the ultimate rock music festival experience in Turkey. You can camp out on the beach and enjoy performances both day and night. Taking place at the Zeytinli Beach in a lesser known holiday destination of the Aegean region Balıkesir, Akçay the festival lasts 5 days; August 28 to September 1.


Istanbul Milyon Fest

A newer festival compared to the rest, it will be held over the July 18-21 weekend at the Milyon Beach, Kilyos. The festival will have two stages with one stage featuring local rock stars such as Duman, Teoman and Şebnem Ferah and a second one presenting Anatolian rock legends such as Selda Bağcan, M.F.Ö. and Moğollar.


47th Istanbul Music Festival

Taking place between June 11 and 30, it consists of 22 classical music concerts at marvelous venues including the Hagia Irene Museum, the Süreyya Opera House, the Rahmi M. Koç Museum and the Grand Bazaar.


Gümüşlük Classic Music Festival

Hosted in the town of Gümüşlük in Bodrum the festival is celebrating its 14th year. Lasting throughout mid-July to mid-August, the festival will also offer masterclasses on cello, piano, violin and double bass. Here you will be able to enjoy the music of classical, jazz and world music artist from all over the world. The concerts will take place at three magnificent venues; a seaside beach, a church and an ancient amphitheater.

Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival

Planned for September, the festival will take place at the ancient Roman Aspendos Theatre, one of the best-preserved ancient amphitheaters in Turkey dating back to the 2nd century A.D. which is located in Antalya.

26th Istanbul Jazz Festival

The festival begins on June 29 and will last until July 18 with performances in different venues across Istanbul including a jazz ferry boat on the Bosporus and jazz performances in the city parks. Concerts will also be hosted at historical Ottoman mansions such as the Feriye Palace and the Esma Sultan Mansion.

Bozcaada Jazz Festival

Held from July 19 to July 21, this jazz festival will take place on the Aegean island Bozcaada in Çanakkale. You will be able to enjoy performances by leading Turkish jazz musicians at the Ayazma Monastery as well as yoga sessions in the surrounding park.
